⏰ Fauci Appeared Before Congress

January 9th, 2024

Happy Tuesday, Patriots! Where have you heard this before? Congress announced a spending deal to avoid a shutdown. That’s right Mike Johnson and Chuck Schumer reached a deal to avoid a government shut down. However, there was one key point missing from the deal: shutting down the southern border.

Hopefully the Freedom Caucus will stand up and stop this legislation from getting passed. Republicans need to say no until we secure the border!

Fauci Testifies Behind Closed Doors About Origins of Covid and His Role in the Response

Dr. Anthony Fauci arrived in Washington yesterday. He was there to answer questions about how he changed his stance on public policy for masks. He also explained how the agency he led funded risky research in China. Additionally, he addressed concerns that the agency downplayed post-infection immunity. He is also testifying again today.

Members of the panel asked Dr. Fauci about how he flipped positions on mask policy, a committee aide said. Dr. Fauci started from the position that masks wouldn’t work to curb transmission of COVID-19, according to emails he sent in early 2020. Now, he is an ardent supporter of not only wearing masks but mandating masks.

Dr. Fauci will also face questions about an email. The email described him as prompting the drafting of a publication. The email said the publication downplayed the lab leak theory. It said he did this to quash rumors he okayed funding for gain of function research. The subcommittee also plans to ask Dr. Fauci about so-called breakthrough infections. These are COVID-19 cases among the vaccinated.

Why is this behind closed doors? Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), chairman of the subcommittee, said on a podcast that the questioning will take place behind closed doors. He said members need this privacy to “dig deep into some of the issues.”” In public hearings, each member only has five minutes of questioning, and the hearings typically conclude after several hours. The subcommittee does plan to hold a public hearing in the future with Dr. Fauci.
