⏰ Do You Think Mike Johnson Sold Us Out?

January 19th, 2024

Happy Friday, Patriots! One of the reasons I started this newsletter was that I was tired of seeing the media do the Democrats' bidding. They always portray Republicans as crazy conspiracy theorists, but they never mention stories like this.

The left is so concerned about a second Trump presidency that they are already preparing to challenge the election if Trump wins.

Mike Johnson Passed Funding Bill Without Addressing the Southern Border

The US House of Representatives voted late yesterday to extend government funding through early March and avoid a temporary partial government shutdown, sending the continuing resolution to President Biden for signature.

The measure infuriated conservative Republicans, who opposed any continuing resolution to fund the government unless Democrats made concessions on border security and spending. The House Freedom Caucus made a last-minute request to House Speaker Mike Johnson to allow an amendment to the House's border security package, which Johnson denied.

Prior to the vote, Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good slammed his fellow Republicans who supported the continuing resolution. "The more things change, the more things stay the same," he stated during a floor speech. "We're not even willing to risk a temporary pause in the 15 percent of the non-essential part of the government in order to force change in Washington," he told reporters. "No, we're going to continue the status quo."

This vote has prompted many to call for a motion to vacate the chair, a strategy used by Congressman Matt Gaetz and others to remove Kevin McCarthy last year. Given that 106 of the 108 no votes came from Republicans, there's a good chance that if someone wants to make the motion, Mike could be sent packing.
