Good morning, patriots! On this day in 1980, the Republican Party gathered in Detroit to nominate Ronald Reagan for President of the United States. Reagan would go on to defeat Jimmy Carter, reshape American politics, and modernize the GOP into the conservative force we know today. Many believe Reagan's bold leadership laid the foundation for Donald Trumpās rise decades laterāproving that strong, unapologetic conservatism never goes out of style.

No Bond, No Release: Trump Ends Catch-and-Release

Promises Made, Promises Kept. President Donald Trump has officially ended the controversial ācatch-and-releaseā policy for illegal immigrants, delivering on a major promise from both the 2016 and 2024 campaigns. The policy allowed illegal border-crossers to be released on bond while awaiting immigration hearingsāmany of which they never showed up for. With a staggering absconding rate, this system quietly enabled millions of illegal aliens to remain in the U.S. with little to no follow-up enforcement.
That era is over. Under Trumpās new directive, ICE will detain all illegal border-crossers until their cases are resolved, with no exceptions for bond. While critics, like the Wall Street Journal, suggest this could lead to mass detention of millions, thatās misleading. As HotAirās Ed Morrissey points out, most already in the country are absconders and subject to arrest anywayāthis change applies mainly to new apprehensions.
Two big factors made this shift possible. First, illegal crossings have dropped by over 90% year-over-year, thanks to tighter enforcement efforts, as Tom Homan noted earlier this month. Second, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, funneling over $170 billion into DHS to expand detention capacity from 40,000 to 100,000 beds and increase the number of immigration judges to speed up case resolution.
The message to would-be border-crossers is clear: thereās no more workaround. No bond, no delay, no entry. Detention is now the rule, not the exceptionāand itās reshaping immigration enforcement in real time.

Would-Be Child Snatcher Walks Free

The Woke Left is Dangerous for America. In Aurora, Colorado, a registered sex offender caught trying to abduct a child from an elementary school playground is walking freeāthanks to a Democrat DA and a court ruling of āmental incompetence.ā Solomon Galligan, 33, who identifies as transgender, was seen on surveillance video entering Black Forest Hills Elementary and attempting to grab a child. He failed only because he tripped and ran.
Galligan, a convicted sex offender already on the registry for prior non-consensual sexual contact, has been in and out of jail for over a decade. After a court-ordered evaluation diagnosed him with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, he was found mentally incompetent to stand trial. Instead of jail, heāll be transferred to a mental health facilityāavoiding a criminal trial entirely.
DA Amy Padden, a progressive Democrat, has chosen not to prosecute. Outrage has erupted across Colorado. Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky is leading a recall campaign, stating that Paddenās āprogressive attitude will not be tolerated.ā Even Galliganās own niece expressed horror: āThis has been like the fourth time⦠How the hell did he get released?ā
If you ever needed proof that leftist criminal justice āreformā is failing Americaās families, this is it. An admitted predator with a violent history and a mental health record is back on the streetsāagain. All in the name of equity and compassion.
